Frequently Asked Questions
Your Questions, Answered
How should I prepare for my first treatment?
Before you come, please complete the background questionnaire and consent form you will have been sent in your welcome email. Otherwise, there is nothing special you need to do to prepare.
What should I expect from my first session?
We'll begin the session with a conversation. I'll ask you why you have come and how I might be able to help. You will have an opportunity to ask any questions you might have. In most cases, you will lie on a massage table during the treatment. You remain fully clothed throughout. I will place my hands on or near various parts of your body. The entire session will last about an hour.
How many sessions will I need?
Most people find the session itself deeply relaxing and energising. Some cases may need only one session for noticeable improvement (e.g. headaches). For more lasting effects and chronic conditions, it is advised to plan for three sessions (once weekly) and then to evaluate on-going treatment plans.
Do you help treat terminal or chronic illness?
Many people find energy treatments to be a positive adjunct to their regular medical care. We don't have research yet to be able to say that energy healing can treat terminal or chronic illness. We do have some evidence, however, that it can improve feelings of depression and of pain. Anecdotal evidence from Solaris Care patients is that energy therapies provide a deep sense of warmth, calm and relaxation, and often help to relieve pain, reduce stiffness and aid neuropathy.
There's nothing really wrong with me. Can I still come?
Yes! There's nothing like keeping yourself relaxed and energised so you are best equipped for whatever life throws at you. I don't know of any research that has tested whether regular energy sessions reduce illness, but our grannies certainly knew that "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Besides, a lovely relaxing energy session just feels so nice!
What's the difference between Reiki and Quantum Touch?
Reiki and Quantum Touch (QT) both involve channeling life force energy into the client. The main difference is that they stem from two different cultures: Reiki from Japan and QT from the USA. Each modality has a standard treatment protocol (e.g., Reiki lying down, QT usually standing up) and different techniques for harnessing and amplifying energy. Both have professional programs and standards for certification. I tend to use both, as and where I see fit, to design a session most beneficial to each client.
